Manchester United have reportedly intensified their desire to sign Sevilla full-back Lenglet in the summer according to Spanish media outlet Sports.

The 22-year-old central defender has been in great form for the Los Rojiblancos since he switched to the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán stadium from Nancy last season in a deal which was believed to be within the range of £5m.

The Frenchman has appeared in 30 matches from a possible 33 matches played by the team so far this season, scoring three goals and assisting just once.

He is currently rated as one of the best defenders in the Spanish league but he might see his stay in the club cut short by the end of the season as he is being tracked by top European clubs including Barcelona, who are reportedly leading the race for the youngster’s signature.

The Catalans defeated Sevilla last Saturday to win their fourth consecutive Copa del Rey trophy but Lenglet performance during the game was enough to attract Valverde’s attention.

Having seen Colombian international Yerri Mina struggled in his first season at Camp Nou, Valverde is set to add the youngster to his squad in the summer transfer window.

Manchester United are also in the race for Lenglet’s services and the Red Devils have reportedly made a move to overtake the Spanish counterparts after making an attractive offer to Sevilla.

Lenglet still has a contract with Sevilla till 2021 but he might be heading towards the club’s exit door in the summer .
