Arsenal have reportedly shown their interest in signing Barca’s midfielder Ivan Rakitic in the summer as part of Wenger’s decision to upgrade his team in the middle of the park ahead of next season.

Despite being the first manager to make known his intention over Rakitic’s service, Arsene Wenger might lose out on the player as Mundo Deportivo reports that Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich are eyeing a possible swoop for the Croat’s signature when the summer transfer window begins in two months time.

The player who just clocked 30, has been a perfect midfielder for the Valverde’s team this season, helping the team in their race for the League trophy. He has been directly involved in eight goals- scoring four and setting up four for his teammates after 49 appearances for the Catalans in all competitions.

Bayern Munich board of directors are hoping to make some changes to their ageing squad in the summer transaction period and they have set their eyes on the Croatian midfielder.

According to the Spanish media outlet, Munich are ready to offer a mouthwatering offer worth £70m to Barcelona so as to beat Arsenal, who are considering making a £45m move for his services.
