Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is set to rival his Manchester counterpart José Mourinho for the service of Italian international midfielder Jorginho this summer.
The midfielder has been phenomenal for the Serie A side, Napoli throughout this season as he’s been a strong protective cover for the team’s backline since the start of the season.
The Citizens have been a strong team in the middle of the park this season as the midfielders have created much goalscoring chances for the strikers who made no mistakes in converting those chances into goals.
Despite the team’s perfect ability to control play from the middle of the pitch, Guardiola seems not too contended with what he already has and he is reportedly set to add more players to his midfield positions.
The Times report that the former Barcelona manager is hoping to offload Yaya Toure and Fenandinho during the summer due to their ageing nature, he is, therefore, looking towards Jorginho’s direction for reinforcement.
As part of the Citizens’ plan to replace ageing players with young players, the Premier League runaway leaders have reportedly tabled an offer for Julian Weigl and Fred who plays for Shakhtar Donetsk.
Mourinho has already revealed his decision to upgrade his midfield’s quality ahead of the upcoming season and he is tipped to be making a swoop for the Italian youngster whose contributions to Napoli have been amazing throughout the campaign.
