Spain and Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata is reportedly set to return to Santiago Bernabeu this summer after an unsuccessful first season in the Premier League.

The forward made a sensational move to Stamford Bridge last summer in a deal that broke the Blues transfer record but has failed to justify his price tag throughout the season.

Despite a bright start to the season where he scored six goals in his first six matches for the Blues, the player looked to be tired until he picked up an unfortunate injury which ultimately ruined his impressive form.

Morata, 25, has played 40 matches so far this season, scoring just 14 goals in the process and he is currently in one of his worst forms as his overall performance still left a lot to be desired.

His uninspiring form is becoming to have some negative effects on his chances of making Spain’s world cup squad as he was left out of the friendlies played by the team last month.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is furious with the player’s performance and he is willing to let him go this summer.

Apart from Conte, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is ready to sell him to the Los Blancos, who have shown interest to re-sign their former striker.

According to Daily Mail, Chelsea might lose from the deal due to the player’s drop in form as Madrid are willing to release just £55m for his signature in the next transfer period.
