Manchester United are reportedly set to put to bed the uncertainty surrounding David De Gea’s future at the club as they have offered him a new contract which will keep him with the club for the next five years.
The Spaniard has been a longtime target for Real Madrid who are also willing to reignite their interest in his service when the summer transfer window opens in July after the summer World Cup which will be hosted by Russia.
It is believed that the contract is set to make him one of the highest paid goalies in the world and according to the Sun, the 27-year-old will receive £350,000 as his weekly wages should he accept the offer.
The deal will also make him the second highest paid player in the club behind Alexis Sanchez who joined the Old Trafford outfits during the winter transfer window.
According to the Sun, Manchester United might officially announce the deal before the goalkeeper travels to Russia with Spain national team for the World’s most celebrated football fiesta.
The goalkeeper has been one of the best goalkeepers in the world since he made his switch to Old Trafford in 2012 when he replaced Edwin Van da Sar who retired after the 2012-13 season.
Though it is yet to be confirmed by the player’s agent, De Gea looks set to continue his impressive performances for the club beyond this campaign.
