In his bid to bolster his midfield before the new season commences, Manchester United manager José Mourinho has been linked with two world-class midfielders; Toni Kroos and Marco Verratti in the summer.

According to the Daily Express, the Portuguese tactician is hoping the team’s hierarchy release enough funds to complete his move for both players ahead of other clubs who are eyeing a swoop for both players.

According to transfermarkt, the Paris Saint-Germain’s midfielder Marco Verratti is rated at £63m Real Madrid playmaker Toni Kroos is believed to be rated at £72m which means United must have at least £135m if they must lay claim for both players.

The Red Devils haven’t lived up to their billings this season — a situation Mourinho is hoping to change with the acquisition of both players.

Toni Kroos is a regular starter in Zidane’s team this term and he has been phenomenal for the team despite their poor form in the first half of the season. In his 32 appearances for the club this season, the German has scored four goals, providing nine assists.

Just as Kroos, Verratti has been a standout performer for Paris Saint-Germain this season with two goals and seven assists to his name.

With this report via Daily Mirror, it is all but certain that Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini will be out of Old Trafford this summer while youngster Mctominay could be loaned out for a more first-team experience.
