Matteo Darmian Set For Juventus Move
Manchester United and Italy international full-back Matteo Darmian is set to end his disappointing spell at Old Trafford after failing to establish himself as a regular starter in Mourinho’s team.
The defender seems not rated by the Portuguese manager as he prefers the combination of Eric Bailey and Chris Smalling at the heart of the defence since he took over as United boss in the 2016-17 season.
Having failed to utilize the 28-year-old full-back, United are reportedly willing to cash in on him this summer as there are a host of clubs who are showing interest in his services including Serie A league leaders Juventus.
According to Calciomercato, the Italian international is not happy with his lack of first-team action at Old Trafford and he is being linked with a move back to his country where he is expected to join Juventus in the summer.
Juventus have been in search of a worthy replacement for Leonardo Bonucci whom they sold to rival AC Milan in the last summer transfer window and they believe Darmian could be his perfect replacement.
Calciomercato also suggest that the Old Lady club are yet to finalize negotiations with the player’s agent as they are still considering other transfer options including Chelsea’s out-of-favour defender David Luiz.
It is yet to be seen if the Italian would be included in Mourinho’s starting lineup when United lock horns with Brighton and Hove Albion in tomorrow’s FA Cup quarter-final fixture.
