Chelsea’s Star Alvaro Morata Snubbed by Spain as Diego Costa Returns
Chelsea record-signing Alvaro Morata has been left out of Spain squad for the two international friendly matches against Germany and Argentina which will be played on the 23rd and 27th of this month respectively.
The Chelsea forward who joined the Blues from Real Madrid last winter has failed to find the back of the net this year, no thanks to the injury he picked up in the second half of the season.
Despite featuring regularly for Antonio Conte’s side this season, Alvaro Morata was snubbed by Julen Lopetegui who believes the 26-year-old striker hasn’t done enough to make his squad for the matches.
Meanwhile, Spain outcast Diego Costa has been recalled to the La Rojas’ team. The Athletico Madrid forward is currently in one of his best forms, therefore, getting his first call-up to the team since June last year.
Diego Costa made a move back to Athletico Madrid in the winter transfer market claiming that he was maltreated by Chelsea boss Antonio Conte. The Brazil-born forward has rediscovered his form since his switch to Diego Simeone’s team as he has been phenomenal for the team, scoring goals and making some eye-catching assists for teammates.
Alvaro Morata needs to rediscover his goalscoring form before the end of the season if he wishes to be part of Spanish team to Russia 2018 World Cup tournament which will kick off in three months time.
Other players included in the team are Marco Asensio, Cesc Fabregas, Marcos Alonso, Diego Costa, Lucas Vazquez, Iago Aspas and Rodrigo among others.
