Unlike previous Chelsea managers who showed little or no trust in youngsters from the team’s academy, Antonio Conte is set to give some of Chelsea’s best academy graduates the opportunity to display what they are capable of doing when the Blues tackle Hull City on Friday in the FA Cup sixth round.
Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ethan Ampadu, Dujon Sterling, Kyle
Scott and Trevoh Chalobah who all graduated from Chelsea academy are all in Conte’s squad list to face the Tigers in tomorrow’s game which might witness wholesome changes to the Blues starting lineup so as to allow the regular starters have much time to rest ahead of their all-important game against Barcelona in the Champions next week.
In his pre-match conference with the press, Conte confirmed his readiness to name Ampadu and Hudson-Odoi in his lineup while Sterling and Kyle Scott could come into the game in the second half, depending on the result of the match.
The Italian manager admitted that the reigning Champions have a great future with the quality of youngsters coming through from the academy. He also predicted great future for both Ampadu and Hudson-Odoi if they maintain their work-rate, humility and diligence irrespective of the club they play for.
Ola Aina, Loftus-Cheek, Solanke, Tammy Abraham, were some of Chelsea’s products who didn’t get the chance to play for the senior team.
