Former Arsenal player Olivier Giroud who joined Chelsea in the winter transfer market for £18million seems to have impressed his new manager Antonio Conte as the Italian manager praised the Frenchman for his display against West Brom on Monday.
The Italian manager gave the 30-year-old striker the chance to make his full debut for the club as he named him in the starting lineup in Morata’s absence and he didn’t disappoint throughout the minutes he spent on the pitch.
Having loaned out Michy Batshuayi to Borussia Dortmund till the end of the season, Conte will be happy that he was able to bring Giroud to Stamford Bridge before the end of last month’s transaction period.
Chelsea faithful are beginning to fear for Alvaro Morata’s future as Chelsea leading striker due to the performance from Olivier Giroud in their 3 – 0 victory over West Brom but Conte has quickly cleared the doubt in the mind of the fans as he admits that there might be a selection headache for him but Morata still remains as Chelsea main striker.
The Spain international is currently nursing a back injury which has kept him out of action for several weeks and he might be missed for the rest of the season.
Giroud is set to be given another starting role when Chelsea face Hull City in tomorrow’s FA Cup fixture. The Blues must get past the Tigers if they must progress to the next round of the competition
