The Celtic defender who was dubbed ‘New Van Dijk’ by fans has made his intention of playing for Liverpool known to the press.
The highly-rated Norwegian star has been tipped by fans and pundits to be the next Celtic’s Virgil Van Dijk as he has the same playing style with the Dutch international who joined Liverpool in the winter.
Van Dijk had a successful spell at the Celtic park before moving to Southampton where he developed into a world-class defender. Having improved tremendously under Pellegrino’s watch, Van Dijk was signed by Liverpool for a British record fee of £75million.
Just as Van Dijk, Kristoffer Ajer has been impressive for the Scottish Champions but he’s willing to join the former Celtic player at the Anfield stadium anytime soon.
When asked which club would he love to play for in the future by one of his followers on Twitter, Ajer confessed his love to play for Jurgen Klopp’s team in the summer due to his love for the Reds.
The 19-year-old is Brendan Rodgers’ favourite player at the heart of Celtic defense despite his young age and the former Liverpool manager might name him in his starting lineup against Zenit St. Petersburg in one of Europa League round-of-32 fixtures on Thursday.
According to Ajer via his verified Twitter account, he is looking forward to the clash against the Russian side.
