Antonio Conte updates Chelsea fans on injured star player ahead of Barca match
Antonio Conte announces that Marco Alonso has suffered an ankle injury while training at Cobham.
The Chelsea star defender didn’t feature when Chelsea played Premier League side West Brom on Monday at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea won 3 – 0 against West Brom, it was a welcomed three point for Conte’s side after they had previously been defeated twice in their Premier League game.
It remains to be seen how long the talented defender will be out of play but Antonio Conte confirmed that the Spaniard had twisted his ankle at Cobham training ground.
Marco Alonso’s injury will be a big loss to Chelsea team and Antonio Conte as they will play Barcelona next week in the Champions League at Stamford Bridge.
While speaking to Sky Sports before winning against West Brom, Antonio Conte said:
“Alonso in Saturday’s training [session] twisted his ankle.
“He has this injury and that’s why he’s not playing.”
Antonio Conte will now prepare his team for their FA Cup fifth-round match against Hull City at Stamford Bridge on Friday night.
Chelsea will clash against Barcelona in the Champions League on Friday in the last 16th leg round.
