Real Madrid have been a longtime admirer of Belgium international playmaker Eden Hazard since the 2014-15 season but their offers are being constantly turned down by Chelsea.

In his bid to acquire the 26-year-old in last month’s transfer market, Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane publicly declared his love to work with the attacking midfielder but that wasn’t enough to convince the player to move to Santiago Bernabeu.

Reports emanating from Santiago Bernabeu suggest that Real Madrid are looking at the prospect of signing the 26-year-old when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

The Galacticos are reportedly willing to add the player to their squad so as to bolster their midfield quality ahead of next season.

According to sport pundit Nicol, Chelsea might refuse to sanction the player’s move to the La Liga giants as they won’t want their best player to leave anytime soon.

“Chelsea can’t afford to let this guy go, he’s their best player”

Nicol admitted that Hazard has been Chelsea’s best player since the start of this season. The Belgian has performed brilliantly despite the team’s poor run of form which have seen them lost two consecutive matches against Swansea and Watford respectively.

The pundit also confessed that Hazard remains one of the best midfielders in the world despite his current not-too-impressive form this season.

“As much as I’m saying he’s their best player, I don’t think he’s at his best” Nicol said
