Chelsea have been placed on red alert by the news that La Liga giants FC Barcelona could be ready to sell Chile international Luis Suarez this summer transfer window– with reports emanating from Spain suggesting the Blues are readying a £80million bid for the ex-Liverpool forward.
Suarez to be sacrificed
It’s suggested the Uruguayan forward could be sacrificed by the Catalans this coming summer to free up space in the team for the arrival of France international Antoine Griezmann, who is expected to make a €100million transfer to the Nou Camp this summer window.
Jordi Mestra, the Vice President of Barcelona has said the club’s budget for transfers will be reduced this summer window and the side may need to offload before they make any more huge-name signings – leading The Guardian to report that Louis Suarez could become the player to be sacrificed – with Premier League champions Chelsea set to swoop.
Chelsea need reinforcement
Despite securing the signature of Spain international striker Alvaro Morata from La Liga champions Real Madrid for £63m last summer transfer window and Frenchman Olivier Giroud for £18m from North London outfit Arsenal in the winter, it’s suggested Chelsea are still in search for more firepower up front in the summer.
Since leaving Merseyside outfit Liverpool to join FC Barcelona, Louis Suarez has netted 140 goals in 178 matches for the Spanish side.
