Manchester United boss José Mourinho is set to make some changes to his starting lineup after his team’s dismal performance against Tottenham during the week.
After losing 2-0 to Tottenham, the Portuguese manager will hope that his team return to winning ways against the Terriers on Saturday so as to close the 15 points gap between them and League leaders Manchester City.
It is yet to be seen who might make Mourinho’s starting eleven but it is certain that the coach will make some changes in his lineup. His predicted team list could be like the one below:
Despite conceding two goals against the Lilywhites, the impressive and reliable De Gea will surely be in goal for the Red Devils bar any injury.
This position could witness one or two changes as Luke Shaw might be given a nod ahead of Ashley Young at the left-back position. Phil Jones will partner Chris Smalling at the heart of United’s defence while Antonio Valencia will be at the right-back position.
Record-signing, Paul Pogba would be deployed as a defensive midfielder alongside Nemanja Matic who looked lethargic against Tottenham.
Newbie Alexis Sanchez, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard will play in an advanced role at the middle of the pitch. Lingard and Martial will have to operate from both flanks while Sanchez will provide support for Romelu Lukaku.
Romelu Lukaku will hope to end his unwanted record in front of goal as he will start as United’s lone striker against Huddersfield. The Belgian striker will be supported by Lingard and Martial who are both capable of playing as false 9
United’s predicted lineup in a 4-2-3-1 formation could simply look like this :
De Gea; Luke Shaw, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Antonio Valencia; Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic; Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial, Alexis Sanchez; Romelu Lukaku.
