Former Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho has blasted his player, Phil Jones after the Englishman’s own goal gave a 2 – 0 victory to rival Tottenham on Wednesday.
Phil Jones, who played alongside Chris Smalling in the defence, was caught off guard as Harry Kane beat the defender to a header that set up Christian Eriksen’s first goal in the match.
It was later a big embarrassment to Jones as the English man shot the ball into his own net in the 28 minute of play.
When Mourinho spoke to BT Sport after the game, He said:
“The second goal was unlucky, Jones was very unlucky.
“He scored a great goal, that Harry Kane would have been proud of!”
And he explains further why they lost to Tottenham, he said he was upset that the Englishman made such an embarrassing mistake so early in the game.
The former Chelsea boss also said:
“We made a bad mistake in the first goal. It was a mistake by the whole team because they watch videos and analyse Spurs’ kick-off.
“They know the way they do it.
“They know Kane starts in an integral position to win some meters. It was a really bad goal
“It was a good reaction for ten minutes, good crosses in the face of goal, we were there.
“But the second goal mentally killed us and gave Spurs chance to play the way they want to play.”
Tottenham forward Eriksen has now penned his name in history after scoring the third fastest goal in the history of Premier League.
Jose Mourinho also confirmed Belgian star player Marouane Fellaini was forced off after he sustained an injury just seven minutes of play.
Alexis Sanchez made his debut for Man United but was unable to perform, report claim he didn’t have a shot on goal or created any chance for United – Will he be another flop at United has this is the first time the effective player had been ineffective.
