Reports of a possible January move by Man United for Ivory Coast international Jean Michael Seri has been going around in recent days.
With the United boss manager Jose Mourinho believed to be in search of midfield reinforcements as he prepares for Michael Carrick’s retirement and Marouane Fellaini’s possible summer departure.
However, Mourinho has now ruled out incomings for the remainder of this transfer window, which automatically puts an end to the Seri reports at least until the summer.
His reply was ‘No’ when asked if his side will be making a move for Seri. ‘I don’t speak about players,’ he said when asked if there is an interest in the player. He instead focused on the news of young Axel Tuanzebe joining Aston Villa on loan for the rest of the season, a report he confirmed and added that his side’s transfer activities for the month had come to an end.
The 26-year old Nice midfielder, Seri, is also a target for Pep Guardiola’s Man City as he is believed to be keen on a move away from the French club.
A move for the player in the summer is not totally off the table for the Old Trafford club, as the manager has in the past stated his plans to sign a few midfielders in the summer.
Dortmund duo of Christian Pulisic and Julian Weigl, as well as Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred, are believed to be on a shortlist for the Portuguese manager.
