Chelsea have according to reports inquired about London rivals, Arsenal’s centre forward, Olivier Giroud.
The Blues are in need of reinforcements this month and despite signing Ross Barkley from Everton, they are still in the hunt for a left-back as well as a target man.
Their hunt for the latter has seen the Premier League champions oddly linked with the likes of Andy Carroll, Peter Crouch and Islam Slimani.
The club has however in the past few days focused on former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko, with a double deal involving his Roma teammate Emerson Palmieri being discussed with the Italian club.
New reports have suggested that the deal might not go through in the end, as although they are close to an agreement for Emerson, the other part involving Bosnian striker has stalled, with the Bosnian seeking a deal beyond the 1 year, often handed to players over 30 years of age (as he turns 32 in a few months).
This has seen the West London club turn to the Emirates with an approach for Giroud, who is believed to be unhappy with his lack of game time this season as he hopes to be a part of the French team to this summer’s World cup.
The 31-year old has been reported to be in line for a move to Dortmund, as a makeweight in a bid to bring Pierre-Emerick Aubameng to North London, this, however, has not come to fruition.
It is unknown if the Gunners will be keen on letting another star player join a top 6 side again this month after Alexis Sanchez joined Man United earlier in the month.
Chelsea on their part are believed to still be in talks with Dzeko and his representatives as well as his club AS Roma.
