FC Porto midfielder Danilo Pereira could be the subject of a tug of war between Premier League rivals Manchester United and Arsenal.
Both clubs sent scouts to watch the 26-year play for his club on Friday in a 1-0 victory over Tondela in a Portuguese Premiera Liga – a game in which he was credited as Man of the Match by the press.
He was part of the Portuguese Euro 2016 winning team and as well as their Confederations Cup team in 2017. He operates mainly as a defensive midfield player but could slot in at central defence when needed. He is a big imposing figure in midfield with a good football engine as well as surprisingly good technique.
Man United and Arsenal are set to move for the Guinea Bissau-born Portuguese international in the summer as they look to bolster their midfield options.
Man United skipper Michael Carrick has been confirmed to be set to retire at the end of the season by manager Jose Mourinho who is keen on getting a replacement in especially as current first choice Nemanja Matic is already 29 and in need of back up.
Porto who signed Danilo from fellow Portuguese side Maritimo in 2015 are believed to be willing to sell for the right choice as he has a €40 million release clause in his contract.
