Chelsea’s search for a big man up front has seen them turn to Leicester City centre forward Islam Slimani.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is said to want a big target man to play back up to first choice Alvaro Morata and has seen his club linked with the likes of Andy Carroll, Christian Benteke, Peter Crouch and most recently Edin Dzeko.

However, according to new reports the Premier League champions are weighing up a move for Algerian international Slimani.

The £26.5 million signing from Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon stands at 6ft 2in and is strong and good in the air, qualities Conte is believed to be looking for.

The 29-year old has struggled since signing for Leicester and is behind Jamie Vardy and Shinji Okazaki in the pecking order at the King Power.

The Blues are reported to have approached the 2016 Premier League champions as regards a loan move for the striker.

The club, however, are not interested in a loan move and would prefer to sell the Algerian outright. At this time it is unclear if the Stamford Bridge club will cave to these demands as they are getting increasingly desperate to get a new striker into the club.

Slimani has not started a match for Leicester in the league since September and has made 35 appearances for the club since signing in 2016 scoring 8 times.

Chelsea are also in talks with Roma striker Edin Dzeko who is believed to fancy a move back to England.
