Reports from Spain say Premier League Champions Chelsea have approached La Liga giants Barcelona as they look to take French star Ousmane Dembele away from the Nou Camp.
The 20-year old only joined Barcelona from German side Borussia Dortmund in August 2017 for a reported €105 million with an additional €40 million in possible add-ons.
He has struggled for fitness since the move and has made only 4 La Liga appearances for the table toppers. He is also currently sidelined with another injury and with the signing of Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool his place in Ernesto Valverde’s starting line up is under threat.
With all these happenings Chelsea are believed to fancy their chances of grabbing the youngster this summer.
Their Talisman Eden Hazard has been consistently linked with a move away from the club with Real Madrid heavily interested and although they are keen on getting him to sign a new contract, they are also ready to cash in if he doesn’t do so by the end of the season.
A move for Dembele if possible will require them to provide a recoup of the fee Barcelona paid Dortmund for the former Rennes man and given Chelsea’s recent sell to buy policy, shelling out over €100 million for one player seem very unlikely.
This, however, has not stopped this particular transfer report from spreading.
