German club Schalke 04 has confirmed that star player Leon Goretzka has agreed to terms with Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich and will join them in the summer after he passed a medical earlier in the week.
This move bizarrely will come has a major boost to Premier League champions Chelsea as they are ready to move for Bayern superstar Arturo Vidal.
It has become a trending story in the press than Bayern Munich’s capture of Goretzka could spell the end for Vidal at the Allianz Arena.
The Chilean international has less than 18 months left on his contract with Bayern and has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge to reunite with his former Juventus boss Antonio Conte.
The reports of an interest from Chelsea has been circulating for a few weeks now with Conte and Vidal failing to rule out the possibility.
The Italian manager in press conference even hailed the 30-year old as one of the best midfielders in the world and a player he would like to have.
With Schalke confirming the Goretzka to Bayern deal, Vidal is expected to leave the Allianz Arena in the summer and at the moment Chelsea appear to be his most likely destination.
For now, however, the player has confirmed his commitment to Bayern for the rest of the season as they aim for another Bundesliga title as well as the Champions League crown.
Vidal has made 24 appearances this season for the Bavarians scoring 5 times.
