It is no longer news that Premier League champions Chelsea are looking to sign a new striker this month at the request of manager Antonio Conte.

The Blues have been struggling in front of goal this year with Alvaro Morata going through a barren spell and Michy Batshuayi appearing to be unfit to be at the club.

This has seen a lot of players linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

Of these players, Andy Carroll of WestHam United appeared to be the most likely with the Hammers said to be willing to sell the injury-prone Englishman for £20 million but another injury to the player has seen the chances of a move disappear.

Edin Dzeko is another to have been linked with Chelsea. But the agent of the former Manchester City star and current club Roma have all but ruled out a move for the Bosnian.

Peter Crouch has seen his name linked to the club has reports of desperation starts to go round the press. A move however for the 36-year old Premier League striker seems very unlikely.

Antonio Conte side is in no doubt in need of attacking impetus but players at the club are at the moment nowhere close to providing what is needed.

Unless the goals start flowing reports of forwards being linked to the club will continue.

One player who could provide the much needed spark is new signing Ross Barkley. The 24-year old is expected to make his Chelsea debut this weekend away to Brighton and Hove Albion.
