Arsenal star player Alexis Sanchez has been in the news recently due to his links with both Manchester United and Manchester City.
However, there are recent reports that Pep Guardiola’s side have pulled out of the race to get the player’s signature, giving Jose Mourinho a free run at signing the former Barcelona man.
Man City have long been favourites to sign Alexis and had agreed to a contract with the 29-year-old back in the summer, amid claims that the player himself is interested in a reunion with his former manager Pep Guardiola.
However, as soon as the window reopened, Manchester United offered a better package to the player, to his club and to his agent Fernando Felicevich.
According to Goal.com, his representative travelled to the Etihad Stadium to inform the premier league leaders that their neighbours were prepared to pay more for the player, but City are not interested in doing more than that.
Jose Mourinho is now set to win the race to sign the South American star player, and the red devils could even make an announcement on Monday or Tuesday.
Sanchez is still eligible to play in the Champions League should he move to Manchester United, plus, he will begin earning some cool £400,000 each week.
Arsenal are expected to complete a deal for Thomas Lemar to replace the Chilean star.
