Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes has insisted that Chilean midfield star Arturo Vidal will not be leaving the club this January.
The midfielder has been linked with a move to Chelsea in recent days as Bayern Munich continues their chase of Schalke 04 star Leon Goretzka.
The veteran manager has now stated that there has been no contact between both clubs and that the midfield enforcer will not leave midway through the season.
“There’s no contact between Chelsea and Bayern,” he said in a press conference at the weekend. “We won’t sell Vidal or any other player during the winter market.”
The statement in itself does not rule out a move entirely and the London club will be looking to return in the summer as by then Vidal will have just one year left on his deal with Bayern.
Chelsea manager as has been said often managed the Chilean during his time at Juventus where they enjoyed great successes together and views the 30-year old as one of the best midfielders in the world.
Chelsea’s midfield has been an area of concern for the manager this season as some of the club’s stars in that position have left a lot to be desired with their performances which has seen the club act fast in the winter transfer market to sign England international Ross Barkley from Everton.
