Although we are just a few days into the winter transfer window, Premier League Champions Chelsea have completed their first transfer signing, albeit this is one for the future.
According to a report by the Metro, the West London club have signed 16-year-old forward Thierno Ballo to their youth ranks after a successful trial at the club.
The teenage sensation spent time with the Blues back in 2017 featuring for their youth team in friendlies and did well enough to seal a permanent stay.
After clocking 16 years old yesterday, Thierno Ballo secured a scholarship move with the Blues, leaving German Bundesliga team Viktoria Koln.
He was discovered while playing football on the street in Linz and started his playing career with local side SC Chemie Linz.
The player who hailed from the African country of Guinea, Thierno Ballo was raised in far away Austria and has spells in the academies at LASK Linz and SV Chemie Linz before departing to join German Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen back in 2016.
The hot prospect has been a regular starter at youth level for Austria, netting four goals in a total of 15 matches for their Under 17 international team and is widely seen as one of Europe’s best young talents – a real catch for the Stamford Bridge club.
