It is no longer news that Chelsea have been long-term admirers of Juventus left-back Alex Sandro.
The Stamford Bridge club were very keen on signing the Brazilian in the summer of 2017 but were put off by the fee quoted by the Italian league champions.
The club had been expected to make a fresh move on the player this month, and they are now set to do so.
Latest reports say the Premier League champions are set to make a ₤50 million bid for the services of the 26-year old fullback. This would see the London club steal a march on rivals Manchester United – who has also been linked with a move for the Juventus star as manager Jose Mourinho looks to make quality additions to his squad.
The Blues are looking to block Man united by acting fast for the defender as the Italian side is being reported as being resigned to losing their star left-back despite being in a battle with Napoli to secure the Serie A title.
Juventus are known to be looking into possible replacements at left fullback with Wendell of Bayer Leverkusen and Alex Telles of Porto being targeted.
Chelsea boss has been linked with a number of his former players at Juventus but is yet to bring any over to Stamford Bridge.
