According to top football journalist Ian McGarry Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is keen on taking over at Spanish La Liga side Real Madrid as he seems unlikely to stay at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian has had a tough second campaign at Chelsea, with the Blues already looking out of the English Premier League title race after a rather slow start to the season.

Pep Guardiola tutored Manchester City seems like Champions in waiting so far, and Antonio Conte hasn’t had an enviable start to the season after a hard summer transfer window.

Top players like Spaniard Diego Costa and Serbian Nemanja Matic were offloaded and arguably haven’t been properly replaced, and McGarry believes it’s all coming to an end for the Italian at Stamford Bridge.

He also feels the pressure is likely to be on French tactician Zinedine Zidane now because of a bad result in yesterday’s 3-0 El Clasico loss against eternal rivals Barcelona.

‘I [McGarry] think he (Antonio Conte) wants the Real Madrid position,’ McGarry is cited in the Sun.

‘If FC Barcelona defeat Real Madrid, the pressure will be huge on Zinedine Zidane.

Recently, Gazzetta dello Sport claimed the West Londoners had made a previous approach over re-appointing Italian Carlo Ancelotti as their head coach to replace Antonio Conte.
