Zinedine Zidane has added cold water on speculations that Real Madrid will sign David De Gea from Old Trafford.
The goalkeeper was very much linked with the La Liga champions during the 2015 summer transfer window and would have complete a move to the Bernabeu before deadline day if not for issues with paperwork.
The Spaniard’s current contract with Man United has another 18 months to run, but the Old Trafford club are expected to trigger a 12-month extension clause to extend his stay with them until 2020.
The 27-year-old is being regarded by many as the best goalkeeper in the premier league, and he was very much impressive for his side during their last premier league game against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
His superb performances against the gunners are said to have alerted the Champions League winners once more.
However, Real Madrid boss Zinedine has cooled talks that the Spain international is on his way to the Spanish capital.
The French manager insisted he is pleased with the current goalkeepers with him at Madrid.
“I am happy with my two goalkeepers” Zidane said this as quoted by daily star.
Although David is understood to be happy at Old Trafford, the former Atletico Madrid shot-stopper once complained Spanish players in foreign countries are not given attention like their counterparts playing in the La Liga.
Liverpool scouts on the way to Italian Serie A for 28-year-old striker
It has been reported that English Premier League outfit Liverpool will have their scout move to the Italian Serie A outfit Lazio to watch Ciro Immobile.
The Reds are believed to be interested in his signature and should there be a positive analysis from the scouts, an attempt would be made to have him join the club before the end of this January winter transfer window.
A number of English Premier League sides have all shown interest in Ciro Immobile who just signed a new deal at Stadio Olimpico in October until 2023. The likes of Manchester United and Tottenham are keen to land him as well.
Ciro Immobile has scored a total of 62 goals in 98 Serie A games for Lazio since joining in 2016. This adds to the 29 goals he scored last season.
The star player has been identified by the Merseyside club as the best fit for the club as a result of his goal-scoring ability and quality which could be of importance at the Anfield.
However, the Reds boss maintains that his Liverpool side are not under pressure to make any signing this season but will rather hold on until the coming summer window.
Klopp might forget this player this winter signing
There is a big boost for the English Premier League outfit Liverpool with the news of the expected return of England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain sustained an injury in late last season where he suffered knee ligament damage against AS Roma in the first leg of the Champions League semifinals.
He has since been away from the team and has been missed by both the team and the fans having transformed to become a better player since joining the Anfield from the North London outfit Arsenal.
The latest report claims that he will be returning to tanning next month and will most definitely be fully fit to play again before the end of the season.
Suggestions are that the return of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be a big boost to manager Jurgen Klopp and will hand a big advantage to the Reds team to see out title rivals Manchester City until the end of the season.
However, the latest report suggests that Liverpool will no longer participate in this winter window as they will now have a big addition which will look like a new signing.
Meanwhile, the Merseyside team had earlier stated that they will not be actively involved in this winter window.
Chelsea to release out-of-favour midfielder on loan
There are suggestions that Chelsea out-of-favour midfielder Danny Drinkwater will be leaving the Stamford Bridge this winter transfer window on a loan move.
This is after the former Leicester City star got missing in the Jurgen Klopp’s team without playing time.
It was earlier suggested that the former Premier League champion will be leaving the West London side alongside Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas who is now with the French Ligue 1 outfit Monaco.
Danny Drinkwater who helped the Foxes win the English Premier League title in 2016 immediately joined the West London side only to become a bench player and he is reported to be keen on leaving the club to secure a playing time elsewhere.
Indications are that the Blues are not willing to part ways with the star player which is the reason why they may be forced to give him out on loan with a number of Premier League sides already indicating interest.
Fulham are reported to be in the lead for the recruitment of Danny Drinkwater on a loan deal as they hope to add more strength to their squad through to the end of the season.
In order to make the deal work through, Fulham are reportedly ready to send Timothy Fosu-Mensah back to his parent club Manchester United to create the space for Danny Drinkwater.
In-demand EPL full-back on Chelsea’s radar
Chelsea will do all within their powers to land Crystal Palace star Aaron Wan-Bissaka before the end of this winter transfer window, according to The Mirror’s Adrian Kajumba
Aaron Wan-Bissaka has impressed so far this season which is the reason why he has attracted a number of clubs with Manchester United also keen to land the star defender.
It is no longer news that the Red Devils are keen to land a central defender and they have been attracted to Aaron Wan-Bissaka but they are believed to be behind the West London side in the race.
However, reports claim that Crystal Palace are already aware of the interest coming for the 21-year-old but they will only be interested in having him leave the club in the summer transfer window.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka only had his debut for the Eagles in February last year but has established himself in the tea, to become the defender to reckon with.
Meanwhile, the Blues will make all efforts to convince Crystal Palace after they must have submitted a luring offer that will seem difficult to reject.
The Blues are keen to beat off competition from North London side Arsenal for the top four finishes so as to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Chelsea to battle Real Madrid in interest for Tottenham star
English Premier League outfit Chelsea are reported to be ready to battle Spanish La Liga outfit Real Madrid over the signature of Tottenham star Christian Eriksen.
Christian Eriksen has been fantastic for the North London side which is the reason why he has been attracting a number of big clubs.
The Spanish outfit had indicated interest in the star player over the past weeks with reports that they are already preparing a bid that would be submitted to the Premier League side.
Christian Eriksen joined the Merseyside club in 2013 from Ajax and has since become one of Premier League most impressive player.
So far, Christian Eriksen has got his contract running with the North London side until 2020 but manager Mauricio Pochettino is not ready to force a decision on the player but will rather let him make the decision best for him.
Meanwhile, the Blues are already preparing to part ways with Belgium international Eden Hazard who is on his way to Real Madrid and Christian Eriksen could just be the perfect replacement for him.
Reports claim that the West London side will be ready to break the bank to land Christian Eriksen so as to add more depth to the already existing and robust midfield.
Ligue 1 Star player keeps Liverpool, Chelsea waiting
English Premier League duo Chelsea and Liverpool will have to keep waiting on the decision of French Ligue 1 outfit Lyon star Nabil Fekir as he is yet to give his consent to the reported interest.
The two Premier League sides have shown strong interest in Nabil Fekir with offers already submitted but it is reported that he is on no rush to make a decision on whether to remain with the French side or move ahead.
However, Nabil Fekir made it clear that he is happy at the moment at the French Ligue 1 outfit but hinted that he is opened to securing another experience elsewhere just like every other player will wish for.
The French man, therefore, made it clear that he is currently holding talks with his representatives and family on the matter and has already held talks with the club’s president to know the plans they have got for him.
Meanwhile, Nabil Fekir noted that he is not under any pressure to make whatever decision that regards to his career which would let it public but at the moment he is focused on playing for the French outfit in addition o recording success with the club.
Another Liverpool star commits future to the club
Instead of bringing in new players in this January winter transfer window, the English Premier League leaders Liverpool have been busy with the business of landing improved and new contracts to their star players.
The latest to be handed a new deal is Trent Alexander-Arnold who is ready to remain with the Merseyside club for a longer period of time.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is a Liverpool Academy product but has been able to grow into becoming a better player as well as breaking into the first team of manager Jurgen Klopp.
However, Trent Alexander-Arnold has now joined the long list of Andy Robertson, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Joe Gomez and Mohamed Salah who have been offered new deals in the course of the season as a way of committing them to the club.
The England international expressed delight in having to pen his signature for the Reds team, adding that it remains a privilege to play in the team.
He, therefore, promised to give his best so as to ensure the first English Premier League under the reigns of manager Jurgen Klopp in addition to dominating in the league.
However, the Liverpool team have been on their toes ensuring they leave nothing to chance in their bid for the league title.
Why we lost to Arsenal, Sarri
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has given a hint on why his side suffered a humiliating 2-0 defeat in the hands of the North London outfit Arsenal on Saturday evening
The West London side were not only defeated but were outplayed by Arsenal which is the reason why the Italian boss lashes out on the players as he puts the blame on them.
It has been an inconsistent performance by the West London side since their defeat to Tottenham which ended their 18 games unbeaten run and that has to be corrected by the former Napoli manager.
However, he stated that he lost because some of the players in his team seem difficult to motivate as he noted that he had made efforts to do that after their defeat to the other North London side Tottenham but that has not worked yet with the defeat.
Meanwhile, the Blues boss is ready to take a part of the blame because his side failed to show up completely against the Gunners team.
However, the game between both sides have been reduced to three points which leave the race for a top-four finish very open and more competitive especially with United coming from behind.
Arsenal 2 : 0 Chelsea – Three talking points from the game
The Gunners returned to winning ways as they thrashed Chelsea 2-0 to the Emirates stadium in one of Saturday’s Premier League game.
The Blues had defeated Arsenal in Emery’s first game of the season, Maurizio Sarri’s side narrowly overcame the Gunners’ challenge 2-1 at Stamford Bridge last year.
However, yesterday’s game was totally different from the previous fixture in August 2018 as the North London club dominated the Blues for the most part of the game.
Emery’s men deservedly took the lead in the 14th minute when Lacazette powered a beautiful shot past Kepa Arrizabalaga who was busy all through the clash.
The home side doubled their lead after 25 minutes when Laurent Koscielny scored with his shoulder.
The Blues were made to chase the game before half time and they couldn’t find the back of the net throughout the mouthwatering and entertaining game.
Here are the top three talking points from the game.
There’s more to Ozil’s omission than Emery’s ‘tactical reason’
It has been long I saw Ozil play a full match. It’s either he was subbed out or he was subbed in by Emery.
In fact, it’s been a while he featured in Arsenal kit and Emery keeps providing ‘tactical reasons’ for the player’s regular omission.
In a game that’s as classic as Saturday’s fixture, every Arsenal fans would expect the German star to be in the starting lineup so as to create more chances with his creativity.
But the former Real Madrid playmaker was surprisingly left out of the starting XI which further suggested that there are off-field crises between the player and the Spanish tactician.
Arsenal vs Chelsea – Three talking points
The Blues were defeated by Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, thanks to goals from Lacazette and Laurent Koscielny.
However, here are the concluding part of the top three talking points that emerged during the encounter.
Morata’s switch to Madrid is imminent after another omission
Alvaro Morata’s move away from Stamford Bridge dominated transfer podcasts during the week as it is believed he could be heading back to La Liga later in the month.
Many rumour mongers revealed Maurizio Sarri has reached an agreement with AC Milan for Gonzalo Higuain who will serve as Morata’s short-term replacement for the rest of the campaign.
Despite being in top and perfect condition prior to Saturday’s fixture, Sarri decided to leave the striker out of his travelling squad which means the Spaniard is partially out of Stamford Bridge.
Next week will decide whether the 26-year-old is set for Atletico Madrid’s move or not.
Unai Emery’s substitutions must improve
Emery’s substitution has left so much to be desired since the start of the season and Saturday wasn’t exempted.
The Spanish manager surprisingly subbed out lively Alexandre Lacazette for Alex Iwobi in the 67th minute, a decision that didn’t go well with the Gunners fans who voiced their displeasure against the ex-Sevilla manager.
Lacazette scored the first goal of the night and he troubled the Blues defence throughout the day, he deserves to full-time action.
Saturday wasn’t Aubameyang’s day as he was quiet all through the night. The Gabonese ought to have been taken off for Iwobi, not Lacazette.
Irrespective of the Result, Arsenal remain in the fifth position with 44 points but they are now three points behind Chelsea in the race for Champions League spot next season
