N’Golo Kante was the highest ranked Premier League player in this year’s Ballon d’Or voting.
The Chelsea midfielder who became the first player to win the premier league with different clubs for two consecutive seasons after lifting the trophy with both Chelsea and Leicester City was placed 8th in the annual list.
Kante was joined in the top 10 by fellow premier league player Harry Kane, who was ranked 10th.
This completes a very successful year for the French midfielder who was named PFA player of the year earlier this year. He also barely missed out on FIFpro world eleven.
Joining Kante and Kane in this year’s Ballon d’Or list were; Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne in 14th place, Kante’s Chelsea team-mate Eden Hazard in 19h place and Manchester United’s goalkeeper David De Gea in 20th position.
Two Liverpool players finish off the Premier League contingent, with Sadio Mane in 23rd and Philippe Coutinho in joint 29th position with Napoli striker Dries Martens.
Cristiano Ronaldo finished top of the rankings for the second consecutive year after a successful year, after winning both the Spanish Laliga and Uefa Champions league. He has now won this award 5 times, equaling the record of arch rival Lionel Messi who finished 2nd again for the second consecutive year. PSG and Brazilian superstar Neymar completes the top 3.
