Manchester United left-back, Luke Shaw put in an impressive performance as his team clinched qualification for the Champions League knockout stage with a top spot in Group A after a 2-1 defeat of CSKA Moscow.
The England international was making his first start of the season after finding it difficult to break into the plans of manager Jose Mourinho. Shaw showed no sign of rustiness as he powered up and down the left flank all game long.
He came close the opening the scoring with an excellent volley in the 20th minute and almost turned provider when his cross minutes later nearly put in Rashford with a chance at goal.
The 22-year also put in good defensive performance even though he was slightly at fault for the opening goal of the match. Shaw put that behind and completed a very good performance even playing through a knock in the closing stages of the game.
Mourinho speaking at his press conference after the match assured the defender of more opportunities the season;
“Shaw put in a very positive performance, especially in possession.
“He created a lot of danger and created a lot of dangerous situations. It was no surprise that he was feeling it towards the end. He deserved a chance and he will get more chances in the future, via Goal”
Shaw who was voted fans man of the match has been thought to be on his way out of United with the club being strongly linked with fellow English left-back Danny Rose.
