Mourinho Transfer Budget
With less than a month left before the official opening of the January Transfer window across Europe, Manchester United manager has been informed that a transfer budget of ₤80m will be made available to him to bolster his squad.
The club spent ₤150m during the summer window, signing Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic’ and Victor Lindelof.
Mourinho was pleased with the acquisitions during the summer as most on his list were signed with the exception of Inter Milan midfielder Ivan Perisic, who recently stated, that he turned down United after having a meeting with new boss Luciano Spalletti. It is left to be seen if the club will go back in with a bid for the Croatian international.
Man United also have players on their transfer list out, Matteo Darmian and Luke Shaw have both been linked with moves away from the club after finding game time hard to come by this season.
According to the reports, Mourinho had a meeting with the club’s Executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, who agreed to hand him ₤80m to spend during the upcoming window.
United are known to need an extra attacking edge, and Mourinho is looking to bring in Mesut Ozil from arsenal who with 6 months left on his contract is free to discuss with other clubs and maybe sign pre-contract agreements ahead of a summer move. Arsenal might be tempted with a bid in January as against losing the German for free in the summer. Gareth Bale and Danny Rose have also been linked with moves to Old Trafford in recent times.
