Former Chelsea Technical director Michael Emenalo has insisted Chelsea manager Antonio Conte’s job is safe.
Emenalo left the Blues last month for a new role at Monaco after 10 years at the club working alongside Russian billionaire owner Roman Abramovich.
“Chelsea are very lucky,” he said while talking with talkSPORT. Every year we seemed to find some very good people to manage or coach that club and I think in Antonio Conte they have one of the best three coaches in the world. I think he’ll be just fine.”
The Nigerian’s departure from Chelsea was seen as a blow especially to the owner, Abramovich, having been one of his most trusted advisors. Rumours started to make the rounds almost immediately, suggesting that his exit was due to tension that arose over the club’s summer transfer activities, which saw Chelsea lost out on major targets as well as a few of their own stars and youth players.
However, in this rare interview, Emenalo cleared the air on the whole issue stating that, he only left the club after so long in search of a new challenge and that he felt the time was right to do so.
Emenalo was a part of the success-story at Stamford bridge, including their recent Premier league title wins as well as their Uefa Champions league and Europa league triumphs.
