Manchester city manager Pep Guardiola would love to add Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen to his squad, this is according to Chelsea legend Pat Nevin.
The 21-year-old Danish international who returned to Chelsea during the summer after a 2-year loan spell at German side Borussia Monchengladbach, has hit the ground running and has secured regular first team appearances under Manager Antonio Conte this season.
The impressive form of the youngster has apparently not gone unnoticed over at Manchester city. Former Chelsea and Scotland International, Nevin, is of the opinion that Manchester City boss, Guardiola, would love to sign the Dane.
“Conte proclaimed he heard a wee whisper, and I don’t know if it’s true, but the player he would really like more than anyone else is Andreas Christensen from Chelsea.” Nevin was also quoted as saying “That’s the one he’d really like. He’s not going to get him but He’s at that sort of age he could do the same thing as Stones.”
It is known that Guardiola loves to have mobile, ball-playing center-backs in his teams, as he did when he signed John Stones from Everton in the summer of 2016 for ₤47.5m. Christensen certainly fits this profile and it is interesting to see how this piece of information plays out.
Christensen is the first Chelsea academy graduate to break into the starting eleven at Chelsea since John Terry and has made 11 appearances for Chelsea in the league so far this season with an average pass accuracy of 93%.
