According to report, Argentine superstar Lionel Messi is pushing for FC Barcelona to beat Premier League champions Chelsea and La Lga champions Real Madrid to the transfer of Inter Milan forward Mauro Icardi next summer.
The Argentina international attacker believes Icardi, 24, could be a superb upgrade on South American forward Luis Suarez, who has since declined in form this campaign after a rather poor stat in front of goal.
Normally, the Uruguayan is a real threat in front of goal, he has just five goals in 17 matches for Barcelona so far this campaign, while Mauro Icardi has been in great form with a 100% Serie A record.
Helping Inter Milan to mount a serious title challenge for their first League crown since 2009/10 season, Icardi has netted 13 goals in 13 matches in the Italian Serie A so far, and seems like he could be a perfect fit at the Camp Nou.
As per Gol Digital, the Blues are interested in signing Icardi to strengthening their attacking options, and could even make the move as early as January.
The Sun, have also listed Champions League winners Real Madrid as major contenders for Icardi to cost a whopping £100million.
The latest news comes from French publication Don Balon, who now claim Lionel Messi is eager for FC Barcelona to battle for the striker, with the Argentine pair enjoying a good relationship off the pitch.
