Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand criticized Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko for his poor performance for the Blues as they secured a 1-1 draw with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool at Anfield Stadium in the English Premier League on Saturday evening.
The France international midfielder joined Chelsea from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco in the summer and has been a regular starter in the first team squad for Chelsea since his transfer to Stamford Bridge.
The Frenchman played his 10th English Premier League match of the League season for Chelsea on Merseyside but he looked to struggle during the match.
Bakayoko was heavily involved in the sloppy defending that led to Egyptian Mohamed Salah’s opening goal in the 65th moment at Anfield Stadium.
Brazilian Willian came off the substitute bench to score a fortuitous equalizing goal for the Blues in the 85th moment at Anfield Stadium when his cross-like shot beat Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.
But Rio Ferdinand was clearly unimpressed by the midfielder’s display for Chelsea, with the Frenchman having been replaced by Spaniard Pedro in the 77th moment of the match at Anfield.
He disclosed during BT Sport‘s Live coverage of the match that if he was captain Gary Cahill, he’d be screaming at France international Tiemoue Bakayoko.
He further stated that the defender was an absolute disgrace during the encounter.
Blues fans will be hoping to see the midfielder improve after his disappointing outing at Anfield.
The Premier League champions, meanwhile, will return to English Premier League actions when they play host to Swansea City at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.
