Spanish La Liga Champions Real Madrid have found it hard to replace Spain international goalkeeper Iker Casillas and they continue to be heavily linked with a transfer for two of the English Premier League’s best goalkeepers – Belgian Thibaut Courtois and Spaniard David de Gea.
After spending a number of seasons pursuing Manchester United and Spain international goalkeeper David De Gea, coming pretty close back in the 2015 summer window, Real Madrid have reportedly made Chelsea and Belgium international goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois their top safe hand transfer target, as per the Mirror, as they attempt to take advantage of his contract situation at Chelsea.
The 25-year-old Belgian safe hand has won two English Premier League crowns at the Bridge but his Chelsea contract is set to run out at the end of next campaign and negotiations regarding a new contract have stalled recently.
European Champions Real Madrid, French Ligue 1 heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain and Serie A champions Juventus are all closely watching his situation as the Premier League side could be forced to sell the goalie next summer.
Thibaut Courtois has spoken glowingly of his playing time in the City of Madrid after spending some time on loan with Spanish La Liga side Atletico Madrid, and a move to their city rivals Real Madrid has never been cancelled out.
