Manchester United star player Marcos Rojo made his first-team return on Wednesday at Basel, and manager Jose Mourinho has heaped lots of praises on him for his performance in the game that eventually ended 1-0.
Although the red devils dominated the game and were the better side in Switzerland, they paid the price for missing lots of opportunities when the host club grabbed a late winner that earned them the full point.
Marcos Rojo made his first start for his side since picking a long-term injury back in April, and he was able to play on Wednesday without difficulties at Basel.
The talented player was very much impressive throughout the game and even hit Basel’s post with a strong shot from 35 yards in the first half.
And while manager Jose Mourinho is not happy with his attacking players for not converting their numerous chances into goals, the Portuguese tactician had lots of praise for Marco.
“[Rojo] played very well” Jose said.
The manager also suggests he won’t be rushing the Argentine defender back into regular first-team action, and he might be rested this Saturday as Man United will clash with Brighton in the premier league.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic also played for some minutes on Wednesday after replacing Anthony Martial in the second half. The Swede legend became the first and only player who represented seven different clubs in the Champions League on Wednesday
