Chelsea to rival Premier League side for highly-rated forward

Published

on

Gorka Guruzeta

Premier League Champions Chelsea continue to be connected with a transfer to sign a new forward with Spain international striker Diego Costa leaving for Spanish La Liga side Atletico Madrid in the winter, but it’s difficult to imagine they’ll spend massive money having spent a club-transfer record fee on Spaniard Alvaro Morata last summer.

Chelsea could go the developmental way and are supposedly one of a number of English Premier League clubs trying to sign highly-rated Athletic Bilbao forward Gorka Guruzeta.

With his current deal running out at the current season, Gorka Guruzeta has impressed recently, netting four times in the final six matches of last campaign for Atletico Bilbao’s youth team, the form which he’s taken into this campaign with six goals in the first 14 matches of the League season in Spain’s third tier League.

Another English Premier League club has joined the race to secure the services of the 21-year-old forward as Premier League returnee Newcastle make solid their interest in the youngster ahead of the winter transfer window in January.

Gorka Guruzeta came through the youth ranks at Bilbao and is also eyed by North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham in the New Year when they can begin negotiations over a free move, meaning Antonio Conte’s side face some stiff competition if they are to sign him.

The sacrifice Chelsea must make to secure Wilson

Callum Wilson

From all indications, English Premier League side Bournemouth will lose some of their key players in a later time owing to the keen interests from other league clubs.

The reason why most clubs will turn their attention to Bournemouth this time around is for the fact that they are currently in good form with the players flying and that has kept them in the sixth position just a step below Arsenal in the league table and two ahead of Manchester City.

The Eddie Howe men started the current campaign on a good note and that has kept them going as they seem keen on ending the season in the top four for a Champions League spot.

Prominent among the players who have got serious suitors are attacker Callum Wilson and Nathan Ake as they are being linked to Chelsea.

However, Chelsea have been told they will have to sacrifice Gary Cahill, who is at his peak and will soon leave the stage owing to his age.

With Bournemouth reluctant to do any business despite being in need of the money, Cahill could be a good compensation for the club as well as a huge fee on the players so that the ambition from both sides can be achieved.
