Manager Provides Injury Update Amid Fears From Man United Fans

England manager Gareth Southgate has provided an update to ease the fears at Old Trafford over the severity of the injury suffered by Phil Jones during the friendly game against Germany on Friday.

Jones was replaced midway through the first half of the clash that ended 0-0 at Wembley.

The player was struggling early on before he was withdrawn, with his leg heavily strapped before kickoff.

Jones was able to stop Leroy Sane from scoring a goal before he taken off in the 25th minute of halftime, and was replaced by Liverpool defender Joe Gomez.

And speaking after the goaless draw, England manager Gareth Southgate said the player has been examined, and he ‘seems fine’.

“It is something he [Jones] has been carrying, but he doesn’t seem to be any worse. So, that is fine.” Southgate said.

The Three Lions are set to clash with Brazil next Tuesday, and the manager suggests it is possible Phil could return to Old Trafford before then.

Jose Mourinho will hope the issue won’t be something too serious, as Marcos Rojo is yet to be fully fit, and Victor Lindelof is yet to find his feet at his new side.

However, the duo of Paul Pogba and Michael Carrick are in contention to play against Newcastle United at Old Trafford next weekend.
