Frank Lampard has tipped both Chelsea and Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United to challenge for the English Premier League title this campaign.
Both teams have made relatively slow starts to the new season to allow Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City to gather an eight-point lead at the apex of the English Premier League log.
The Blues were 1-0 winners over Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United in the English Premier League at the Bridge last weekend as Conte’s team claimed the win thanks to Spaniard Alvaro Morata’s second-half header.
The Red Devils will now have to return to winning ways in the Premier League next weekend when they lock horns with newcomers Newcastle United at home.
Frank Lampard knows United boss Jose Mourinho pretty well, having played under his tutelage during his successful first reign in charge at Stamford Bridge.
And the former England international midfielder believes that United have the right coach for the job at the helm of affairs at Old Trafford.
The former Chelsea midfielder is quoted by the Daily Express: “[Jose] Mourinho is a manager that loves to win [matches] and he [Mourinho] has a [number of] way[s] of winning [matches]. It’s different to [Manchester City coach] Pep Guardiola, different to [Chelsea boss] Antonio Conte and that’s his [own] way.
“If United don’t win the English Premier League, for me [Frank Lampard] it’s the quality of the [Manchester United] players.
The Premier League Champions Chelsea will return to League action next weekend with an away clash at the Hawthorns against West Bromwich Albion.
