According to reports, La Liga giants Atletico Madrid have rekindled their interest in Man United’s Ander Herrera, and the Spanish midfielder could actually find himself playing in Spain next year.
Herrera is out of contract at the end of this season and talks about extending his stay at Old Trafford is proving unfruitful so far.
The player will be allowed to begin holding meetings with foreign clubs over a move when January comes, and he will become a free man next summer if he failed to put pen on paper for a new deal at Old Trafford.
And Spanish news outlet AS made it known that Diego Simeone’s side are confident they can convince the midfielder to return to Spain to play in the La Liga, and talks are already going on about a move.
It was added that Ander himself is interested in joining Atletico Madrid, and Simeone believes the Spain international will add great value to his team.
Last season, Herrera won the Man United Player of the Season award, but this term, the talented player keeps struggling under the management of Jose Mourinho, and has mostly warmed the bench.
Jose preferred pairing the duo of Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba in the center of the park, and it was only after Pogba picked an injury that Herrera was opportuned to return to the first team.
