According to Italian transfer gossip website TuttoMercatoWeb, Premier League Champions Chelsea have been strongly linked with a switch for AS Roma’s midfield prodigy Lorenzo Pellegrini.
The reigning English topflight Champions have closely watched the youngster recently, and he came off the substitute bench in the two recent UEFA Champions League group matches between the two clubs.
The 21-year-old young prodigy is only just breaking into the first team of Italian Serie A giants AS Roma but has been inviting several interests from all over top clubs across Europe recently, with his good display in Italy’s youth sides only raising his profile further.
Chelsea tactician Antonio Conte has shown a definite interest in signing good players he knows too well from Italy, like former Torino full-back Davide Zappacosta and former AS Roma defender Antonio Rudiger this summer transfer window and a transfer for young Pellegrini would make a lot of sense.
To add fuel to the likelihood of a transfer to the West London club, the young midfielder reportedly has a buyout clause as low as €25million – although other reports in the media claim that the transfer fee will increase as the former Sassuolo starlet makes more appearances for his side.
