Here Is The Player Mourinho Is Likely To Sell To Bring In Ozil In January – Not Smalling

Published

on

Luke Shaw

According to latest transfer reports at Old Trafford, Jose Mourinho has been informed by the Manchester United board that he must sell players before he can buy new ones during the upcoming January transfer window.

Jose signed the trio of Romelu Lukaku (from Everton), Victor Lindelof (from Benfica) and Nemanja Matic (from Chelsea) during the past summer transfer window, but couldn’t seal a deal for Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic.

The former Chelsea boss appeared to have moved on from signing Ivan, but he would still like to bring in a creative player into his team so as to bring down Man City from the top of the premier league table.

The Old Trafford club have been linked with Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil for some time now, and they could move to bring him over in January, instead of waiting until the end of the season.

However, the former Real Madrid player is likely to go for something in the region of £20million, and Jose will need to let go before he can bring the German in.

Who is the player the manager is likely to offload?

Luke Shaw

The former Southampton defender is obviously the one most likely to leave Old Trafford when January comes, as it is glaring he has no future at the club.

He has made just two appearances so far this term, and has been linked with a move to Tottenham to reunite with his former manager Mauricio Pochettino at the London club.

Ousmane Dembele

North London giants Arsenal have received a big blow in the chase for highly rated Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele following the news that club skipper Lionel Messi wants him to stay at Nou Camp.

Five-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi is regarded as one of the most influential figures at Barcelona having played with the distinction for the Spanish champions for the better part of the last 15 years.

Football.london claim that Messi regards the young French international player as a big player for Barcelona in their pursuit of honours in three major competitions namely Champions League, Spanish Copa Del Rey and the Spanish La Liga.

Ousmane Dembele has had to deal with the consequences of his disciplinary issues this season with senior club officials unhappy with his conduct.

The 21-year-old was said to have gotten to Barcelona training two hours late at the weekend to further compound his woes at the club.

His off-field conduct is in stark contrast to his form on the pitch where he has scored eight goals in all competitions for Barcelona this season.

The recent admission from Messi about Ousmane Dembele would have thrown spanner in the works of teams hoping to sign him.

Apart from the Gunners, Chelsea and Liverpool are also interested in the former Borussia Dortmund.

French Ligue 1 giants Marseille are reportedly eyeing a transfer for experienced Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal ahead of the upcoming transfer market scheduled to start as from the 1st of January.

This is according to the publication from respected French media platform France Football.

It was revealed that the 2018 Europa League finalists are on the search for a new left-back to complement Jordan Amavi and that they have identified Spanish international player Monreal as a possible signing.

Marseille are also interested in a transfer for another Premier League left-back.

The previously mentioned report also confirmed that the 1993 Champions League winners are weighing up a move for Liverpool Alberto Moreno.

The 26-year-old has lost his starting place in the Liverpool first team following the emergence of Scottish international captain Andy Robertson last season.

Nacho Monreal has been a mainstay of the Arsenal since he joined the club from Malaga in January 2013.

He has scored seven times in 170 appearances in the Premier League.

Monreal, 31, was part of the Arsenal team that won three FA Cup titles in four seasons under the guidance of former Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

He has not featured as much as he would have liked this season and it’s mainly due to a troublesome hamstring injury.

Toby Alderweireld

Manchester United have been linked with several players ahead of the upcoming transfer market scheduled to begin as from January 1 but a player from top four rivals Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as the top target for the Red Devils next month.

The Sun claim that Spurs centre back Toby Alderweireld remains the top transfer target for Manchester United with three weeks left before the transfer window opens again.

The Red Devils have been long-term admirers of the 29-year-old defender.

Toby Alderweireld recently impressed for the Belgian national team at this summer’s FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia.

He was part of the team that finished third via a 2-0 victory over England in the 3rd/4th place playoff.

Toby has just six months left on his current Tottenham Hotspur deal though the North London giants can activate the clause of an additional year to take him to the summer of 2020.

The clause will give potential suitors the opportunity to sign the centre back for just £25m.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho wants to boost his ailing defence and several players have been touted as possible signings for the Old Trafford outfit.

The Red Devils have conceded 26 goals in just 16 league games this term and they have one of the worst defensive records in the division.

Lucas Paqueta

There are fears that English Premier League giants Liverpool might miss out on long-term target Lucas Paqueta ahead of the winter transfer window which reopens in coming weeks.

This is after reports emerged that Manchester United and French Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain are all now in the race and they are keen to strike a deal with the Brazilian as early as in January, according to reports in the Italian and French press.

According to Calciomercato, both clubs are willing to hijack the deal by meeting with the £45 million price tag on Lucas Paqueta and could even pay more should the club make certain demands.

Lucas Paqueta has been impressive which makes him linked with a number of clubs with West London side Chelsea also interested but have since lost out of the race.

The star striker is looking to follow the footstep of star player Neymar by storming Europe to make an impact with his goals.

So far this season, Lucas Paqueta has had 28 appearances under his belt and has been able to score 6 goals and provided 4 assists.

He is described as a creative player who will fit into most big English sides which is a major reason why it will be a big blow to the Reds should he move elsewhere.

Star player in transfer mess at Chelsea?

Brazilian international David Luiz seems to be in a transfer mess after it is reported that negotiations between his representative and the club for a new deal stalled.

This means that the Brazilian international might be on his way out of the club which is against his wish as he hopes to spend longer time at the Stamford Bridge.

It is reported that David Luiz requested for an extension in his contract beyond a year which is against the doctrine of the West London side as he could only be handed a year deal because of his age.

The career of the Chelsea star came alive again this season with the coming of manager Maurizio Sarri and became one of the best in the club.

He has hinted that talks are still ongoing as he hopes to convince the club to hand him more than a year contract, stressing that he has big love for the player.

He noted that he is enjoying the game and life in general at London which makes it difficult for him to make a decision to leave the club.

It would be recalled that the 31-year-old had left the Stamford Bridge in 2014 to PSG with a record fee of £50 million only to return after two years.

Emerging reports indicate that Chelsea will finally have their way in securing the signature of Italian outfit Napoli defender Elseid Hjsaj in the winter transfer window which reopens in coming weeks.

The West London side have longed been linked with the star defender but there seem to have been a blockade in the attempt because of the need for the player at Naples.

Also, manager Maurizio Sarri made attempts to have the signature of the star player for Chelsea when leaving the Italian side in the summer but the move was blocked by the club resident.

However, after several weeks of speculations, a reliable Napoli-based journalist Emanuele Cammaroto has now come out to state that Elseid Hjsaj will now be on his way out of the club.

According to the journalist, manager Carlo Ancelotti is ready to let him leave also adding that the goodbye is already on the agenda for the Albanian.

The Journalist added that the West London side could be forced to rush the deal for the player so as to escape the potential ban that might fall on the club.

However, the Italian side have tabled a £50 million as the asking price for Elseid Hjsaj as they are not willing to go any less.

Dominic Solanke

Liverpool youngster Dominic Solanke is one of the few players at the club who have got a future but will have to secure more playing time elsewhere until they are ripe for a first team football at the Anfield.

Efforts by the club to have him sold in the last winter transfer window failed with the Merseyside club holding onto him as a player for the club’s future but there is no doubt that he is keen on playing regularly which makes him seek for a move away from the club.

There are indications that the Reds have yielded to his wish and have decided to let him go on the condition that he will secure regular playing time as well as have a good development in his game.

However, Celtic have been urged to submit a bid for the player so as to be able to challenge in the Scottish League.

Dominic Solanke has been in great form this season, scoring goals and rated as a major part of the Liverpool future.

However, the Reds have made it clear that a deal for Dominic on loan in the coming winter transfer window remains a deal but where he would be heading to is subjected to scrutiny.

jean-Clair Todibo

One of Liverpool’s best central defenders Joe Gomez has been injured and with his absence set to be a major blow for the Reds, there is a need to find a replacement for him.

However, the Reds have reportedly decided to step up a bid for long-term target and Toulouse defender Jean-Clair Todibo, according to a report by The Express.

Though he is 18 years of age, he has been tipped to be one of the most promising defenders in Europe with the impressive performances he has shown and most importantly, making a first-team appearance for his side.

He has got the ability to pair with former Southampton central defender Virgil Van Dijk according to rating by pundits and that is why the Merseyside club have looked his direction.

However, Liverpool have got Joel Matip who started in their last game and Dejan Lovren to fill the game but there are insinuations that the German manager favours Jean-Clair Todibo ahead of the duo.

Jean-Clair Todibo has scored a goal with the 10 games under his belt this season and has been impressive as well.

With the winter transfer window set to reopen in coming weeks, Liverpool will hope to land the young lad so as to continue their dominance for a title win this season.

French Ligue 1 outfit Olympique Marseille are reportedly keen on having the signature of Arsenal and Liverpool stars Nacho Monreal and Alberto Monero respectively.

Marseille are expected to face a battle from Paris Saint Germain in their quest for the English Premier League duo due to the interest they have also shown.

The French side are hoping to change the fate of the club in the second half of the season which starts in January by making good use of the winter transfer window which reopens in coming weeks.

Marseille are currently fifth in the standing which makes them face the risk of missing out of the Champions League next season as well winning the league title this season.

However, the Liverpool man is out of favour at the Anfield and is already seeking a move away which hands the French side a big boost to have his signature.

On the other hand, the North London side are already seeking for a replacement for the Spanish left full-back as a result of his injury and age.

However, with both Spanish stars playing the same role, the French outfit could succeed in having the Liverpool man as a result of his availability ahead of the winter transfer window.

Three-time European champions Manchester United will have to see off competition from England in the chase for young German midfielder Arnie Maier.

Arnie Maier plays his club football for German Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin at the moment.

The Sun claim that Manchester United and Premier League top four rivals Arsenal are in the hunt for Arnie Maier.

The German u21 international has established himself in the Hertha Berlin team since the start of this season.

He made his 16th appearance of the season in all competitions as he helped Hertha Berlin beat Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 in their German Bundesliga clash on Saturday.

Marko Grujic scored the only goal of the game.

Grujic is on a season-long loan at Hertha Berlin from Premier League giants Liverpool.

Arnie Maier has been dubbed the new Toni Kroos as a result of his style.

He has a long way to go to match the numerous achievements of Toni Kroos who won three successive Champions League titles with Real Madrid between 2016 and 2018 under the guidance of French football legend Zinedine Zidane.

The 19-year-old has shown enough quality for football stakeholders to believe that he can thrive in teams like Manchester United and Arsenal if he completes the much anticipated transfer to the Premier League.
