Manchester United new boy Romelu Lukaku believes he was meant to reunite with manager Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford, and that he can’t just turn down the chance to work with the Portuguese tactician.

At the earliest stage of the past summer transfer window, Lukaku was at the centre of a tug of war between the red devils and Antonio Conte’s side.

At some point, we all thought he would eventually return to Stamford Bridge while Alvaro Morata is expected to move to Old Trafford from Real Madrid.

But he chose to move to Manchester United in a club-record £75million deal, and the Belgium international has made a big impressive start to his Manchester United career.

Lukaku has scored 14 goals in all competitions so far for his new side and has been able to break some early records set by some of United’s legends like Ruud van Nistelrooy and Eric Cantona.

And the former Everton striker is confident his Portuguese manager can help take his game to another level.

Speaking to Sky Sports recently about his choice in the summer window, Romelu said he felt Manchester United was the stage for him, and that playing under Jose was his ‘destiny’.

“It was Man United, it was Jose Mourinho. I could not say no [to them]” Lukaku said.
