Jose Mourinho praises Tottenham center back Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertongen and Eric Dier as the best-organized defenders after Manchester United victory against Tottenham on Saturday.
Spurs played a “Conte style” three-man defence that has been positive for them this season at Old Trafford, but we have seen Eric Dier playing deep this season from his usual midfield role to replace Davidson Sanchez.
After an impressive display from both sides, Mourinho did not stop but to single out the trio as the best in Europe, In a match that saw Anthony Martial scored the winning goal.
“ Mourinho told Sky Sports’ Premier League channel that broadcast the match that they worked very well. “Today, they were two strikers playing together against three top central defenders, who are the best we have in Europe.
The former Chelsea boss gave his verdict after he was asked about the partnership of Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford.
He Said: “They (Lukaku and Rashford) had to do their defensive job of pressing them (Tottenham’s players) coming out with the ball, which they do really well because they have big routines with playing with three at the back.
“On top of that, they gave us solutions to get away from the pressure. Their work was amazing.”
Anthony Martial came off the bench to score the winning goal for Manchester United, he has scored six goals in the 2017/18 Premier League season so far.
